Specimen
From geometric abstractions to visual reappropriations, the duo of graphic designers called Les Graphiquants draw a poetic line between formalism and an embraced aestheticism.
Exclusively in black and white, the presented series "Specimen" questions the different scales of representation. Manipulable objects in collections or pinned up in a sort of fabulous cabinet of wonder, are sometimes monumental in scale, letting the eye travel across these new landscapes.
Each form arising from Les Graphiquant's visual exploration becomes an element of a language that they are obsessed with mastering. Nothing is explicit; each can guess, interpret, recognize, decide. Experiencing these specimen is like trying to decipher a cloud.
Geometric, dramatic or poetic, the series of "Specimen", unveiled at Gallery Lazarew, coexist in all their differing degrees of representation and offer new arenas of interpretation to our senses.
