Born in Paris in 1968, Florence Grundeler grew up between "urban landscapes" near Paris, and smoother natural lines in Vexin, where she developed a privileged connection to nature. After studying Chinese at the National Institute of Languages and Oriental Civilizations and spending some time in China, she began art researches in Paris.
It is in Brazil, where she spent 7 years, that she chose to fully embrace an artistic career. Working visual artists and engravers broadened her range of tools and expressions. She then moved to Moscow and Buenos Aires, where she absorbed new ways of living and thinking.
In 2009, she settled in the Gard, near Uzès (France). Light, nature & isolation are the key elements that feed her recent work, which focus on traces, lines, and intimate or geographical landscapes.
